WOW EXCHANGE

Artist talks

WHEN: Thursday 28 April 20:00

WOW is starting a new series of artist talks with the artists in residents of WOW. The aim is to exchange information and inspiration among the artists and the public. WOW EXCHANGE is open for everyone interested and is free. For the first edition of WOW EXCHANGE we have invited several participants of the SEVEN WALLS exhibition. The EXCHANGE will take place in the Vertical Gallery at WOW.

The participating artists are:

  • Florian Mecklenburg
  • Andrea Karch

Hyoseop was born in Seoul, South Korea and lives and works at WOW. Having graduated from the Gerrrit Rietveld Academy in 2015 with Demanding Not the Relative Component of B in A, a ceramics exhibition, he focuses on the evolution of Appropriation Art and researches the idea of originality in art. His process is one of self-discovery through perpetually interrogating himself and his subconscious. On the other hand, the physical possibilities of his materials play a large part.

Tjitske is an artist with a background in graphic design, currently pursuing a research master in Artistic Research at the University of Amsterdam. Though still in love with print and typography, she is now trying to expand her horizon by experimenting more and more with other forms such as photography, writing and installation. With her spherical imagery, she is out to create a universe in which she deals with the fine line between the real and the fake.

Geray was born in Medina del Campo, Spain in 1989 and is currently studying Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He holds an MFA in Photography from EFTI, Madrid. Over the past years, Geray’s work has become the result of ridiculing and critically engaging with the ever-changing world around us. Geray’s work ranges from documentary photography to post-modern re-appropriation, painting, sculpture, video and installation.
