wow noir #2

Music hangout

WHEN: Thursday 16 April 20:00

Join us Thursday 16th of April for ‘WOW NOIR #2’, a new musical hangout place in WOW.

Settle down and get yourself a drink in our Green Gallery while The Great Communicators will play you some tunes. The next bands will play in small semi-acoustic setting. Make sure you and your friends don’t miss out!

Line up: MATT SIMONS, TESSA ROSE JACKSON, YELLOW GRASS, POSTCARDS FROM MARS and THE GREAT COMMUNICATORS.

▬▬▬MATT SIMONS ▬▬▬

Though he’s been studying classical and jazz since his childhood—taking the requisite piano lessons before switching to the saxophone (“the saxophone is just cooler,” he cracked), and he’d been gigging in his now hometown of New York to small crowds, he found himself something of a minor celebrity in the Netherlands…

▬▬▬TESSA ROSE JACKSON▬▬▬
Like many young women, 22 year old Tessa Rose Jackson is passionate, ambitious and committed, as eager to laugh as she is sensitive to heartache. What distinguishes her from her contemporaries, however, is the nature of her songs: often written, arranged, produced and performed by Jackson alone in the small studio she’s built at home, they are, put succinctly, unusually worldly wise, and sound little like the work of someone so young…

▬▬▬POSTCARDS FROM MARS▬▬▬
The first PFM song was born back in 2011, one late afternoon out on the meadow. With a blank notebook and ready for a new start, Bart’s only goal was to write songs straight from his heart. After a lot of writing, co-writing and rewriting, Bart has now collected enough material to release his heartfelt voice into the world. A collection of singer songwriter songs both sweet and serious set the stage for personal growth and emotional insights about love and choosing who you want to be.

▬▬▬YELLOW GRASS▬▬▬
Founded in 2012, Yellow Grass molds together a variety of styles into a folkish, americana sound. Since band members, Pepijn van der Burgt, Nienke Cusell en Bram Wesdorp met each other on the the Conservatory of Amsterdam, they’ve been trying to get their feet on musical soil.

Whether you are dealing with a broken heart, a manic lust for life, situations of messy adultery or other random misery, or just want to be surprised by music of implausible beauty: Yellow Grass leaves no soul untouched.
