Cian-Yu Bai, a Taiwanese painter, is opening her studio to the public during ‘WOW OPEN AIR – 24H Amsterdam West’.
Cian-Yu Bai is ex-participant of the art institution ‘De Ateliers’ from 2012 to 2014, and one of the winners of Dutch painting prize Buning Brongers Prijs 2014. Since September 2014 she has an artist residency in WOW. Her works focus on the intertwined relationship between memory and imagination. Through the process of painting she shows how the multi-layered model of memory transforms from sensation to short-term memory and then becomes long-term memory. This process also tells how reality can be perceived and how reality can be twisted by personal interpretation. In the open studio she will show her selected works and displays an intimate space between herself and her paintings.
