Designers in Action

Makers Day

WHEN: Sunday 2 November 15:00

Join several live performances at 2 November and see how designers of ‘Slow Tech’ make their products.

Several participants of ‘Slow Tech’ will give live performances to show how they make their products. All designers combine traditional crafts and industrial production.

Rutger de Regt and Marlies van Putten (Handmade Industrials) show how they make a vase of biodegradable thermoplastic granules and a balloon. Watch their process here.

Pascal Smelik lets wax solidify into a cistern, and explains how he makes his Kaarsrecht Stool using molds and castings. Watch his video here.

Lenneke Langenhuijsen (Buro BELÉN) tells how they make fabric out of wood.

Maarten Schenkeveld is still keeping his performance a secret..

Joris Laarman’s Puzzle Chair will be 3D printed with an Ultimaker.

Glow Super Foods will culinary enrich the afternoon with a raw chocolate performance by Shanour Moens. From childhood Shanour has a deep interest in how things are made, particularly when the subject is food…

Talk

Besides a number of unique live demonstrations (fun for young and old!) the designers are also interviewed by curator and design critic Jeroen Junte and they go into a discussion on the combinations between craft and industry.
